Oh man, those were the days. I even printed the certificate you got when you finished the game (I think I finished all three), and glued it somewhere in the bedroom for people to see. Getting to the end and finish games was really a big thing back then.

The Deus Ex series, the Witcher series, Chrono Trigger, the older Final Fantasy titles, Phantasy Star series, MoO 2, Civ IV with BtS and Civ V with BNW, Romance of Three Kingdom VIII, Stellaris is slowly getting on this list (hopefully Paradox doesn't drop the ball), the Company of Heroes franchise (prefer 1, but I am fine with 2), and my all time favourite game of all time: Star Control II. The avatar should be a huge hint. 4. What do you do for a living? Freelancer. Mostly writing and tutoring, but honestly, I pretty much do anything. Kidding, I am constant academic, I never stopped reading research papers and textbooks even after I finished university. It can be any subject, from politics to economics, to history and psychology, and to astrophysics and biology. Chess (I suck at it though). and generally reading a lot. I did get into listening to podcasts and audiobooks lately. 6. What's your native language? I've learnt French, English, and Hungarian simultaneously. Hi, I would normally write something witty here, but heck, its 5pm on a Friday afternoon, so I'll cut this short: Like most of you here, I am a nerd who likes 4X and especially space strategy games. I did grow up on great titles, such as Civilization, Master of Magic, Master of Orion, Pax Imperia, Imperium, honestly, the list could just go on and on and on. As someone who have probably played every RTS or TBS 4X space strategy game from the last 30 years and has been working as a software developer for the past 15, I am more interested in designing and making games these days, than actually playing them, mostly as very little of what is out there today caters to my particular tastes. If I would have to pick a favorite, it would probably be Sword of the Stars, for its purist and excellently focused game design coupled with an excellent execution. My native language is Terran (for those not aware, in pop culture, this pretty much means English) and I'm from the planet earth. I believe in a society, where national boundaries and nationalist sentiments are a thing of the past, so we can work together as people of the earth and not care about which land mass one might stem from. I have no pets as I struggle to keep even cacti alive
That's a noble idea and one we will need to embrace if we ever hope to advance as a civilization. I don't anticipate seeing it happen in my lifetime, but assuming we don't all blow each other up, perhaps someday.
I think that it's a noble idea but, like the OP wrote, i don't think it will become a reality in our lifetime.
