Hello all, sill not much time to play anything other than ISG but I wanted to give everybody a heads up. Matrix, Slitherine, and Ageod are all running some massive sales at the moment. (Massive as in DW is now about 20 bucks).
While I'm not plugging or recommending any particular game, I took advantage of the sale to buy some titles that seemed attractive but not at their normal price. So If you had something you wanted there, but weren't sure it would be worth the investment, now may be the time to have a look.

I'm in the same boat as CrazyElf lately with little time for games. The weekend though should give me some free time but I want to focus more on ISG. Testing the new systems was fun last week but it truly left me hungry for more, this weekend I want to play more "natural" for the fun of it. I see so many good things that have really brought ISG to a new level of play and sophistication.

Some good games here. I see Grim Dawn mentioned and it has an expansion releasing next week. I'm excited to dive back into that one, although I already have 220 hours in it... I'm also playing a lot of Total War: Warhammer 2 right now. On the side, when the situation calls for it, I'm also still plaything through the Xcom-like Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle on my Nintendo Switch.

I been playing the new DLC for Stellaris and yesterday tried the new Total Warhammer 2.

Outside of that, I've been playing a lot of Divinity Original Sin 2.

Right now, I can't get enough XCOM 2. The vanilla game was already my favorite XCOM (or XCOM-inspired) game ever, and now the War of the Chosen expansion has made it even better.

I still steal a minute or two in Serious Sam 1 HD, what a wonderful throwback to simpler times. And game load and alt-tabs basically instantly.

As for Starbase Orion, I'm nagging my friend to borrow me an iOS device to play it but no luck so far. Too bad SO port Kickstarter failed and the game I hear so much good about is locked to devices I have otherwise zero incentive to own :(.

    Well gents,
It's not so much what I'm playing but rather my to do list.
Mez has eloquently convinced me to try Star-base Orion while vmxa and Ashbery76 combined have convinced me to try SotS which has been sitting in my library (untried) for about two years.
Unfortunately, I've been a bit under the weather of late and it has killed my drive and ability to concentrate for extended periods of time, but once I feel like my old self I will give them both a go.
I did dig up many reviews on both games and I still see a lot I won't care for in SotS,,, but
The endorsement you fine gents have given the combat (and AI in that respect) have me hopeful that it will present a challenge. That alone interests me enough to give it a go.
Starbase Orion on the other hand sounds very MoO2 like and quite deep for a tablet game. Now I just need to borrow one to try it as I never bothered with such devices, still it actually has me quite intrigued and I want to take it for a ride as well.

It's been a bit so time for an update from me.

Interstellar Space: Genesis is obviously always somewhere in my playlist. It's the only space 4X I'm currently playing. Maybe I'll give Stellaris another whirl at some point too, but I felt a bit cool on it last time I played.

Total War: Warhammer has the Norsca DLC, a free content drop, and a pretty significant patch also adding content this week. I will therefore be playing a fair bit of that in the very near future. It's my favorite fantasy strategy game at the moment, and with the amount of content being added over the next several years to it, I can foresee it being my go to in that genre for a long time to come.

I'm going to be picking up Agents of Mayhem (releases next week) due to my enjoyment of Saints Row IV. I rarely play 3rd person games like this, but I do enjoy them on occasion. I suspect this one doesn't cross over much with the general 4X crowd, but I've always bit a bit of an omnigamer due to my exposure to both computers and consoles at a young age.

Later this month, I'm getting Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle for my Nintendo Switch. This one is also a bit of a non-standard choice for 4X fans, but crosses over a little more with the PC strategy crowd since it is very similar in many ways to the latest XCOM series.

Grim Dawn is an ARPG I am awaiting an expansion for before diving in again. Hopefully it will release later this year.

    :)

I have Birth of America as well Baron. In a way, even though it depicts a later and more complex era, civil war is easier. Primarily this is because you can take those regiments and brigades to merge them into divisions and eventually corps. It is a magnificent game Baron but also very demanding, if there is anything specific you wish to know about civil war (both the war and the game) just PM me, I will gladly try and answer.

Yes Baron Hanzo, are you familiar with it? Very satisfying game, very complex. Not 4x, more of a strategy tittle.

Recently I got the urge for more of a fight, at least more than what is normally found in 4xs, so I fired up AACW, luckily I have multiple versions and can play one before the AI was hamstrung by community feedback.

I love the time period from a military point of view and read Hardee's rifle and infantry tactics from that era when I was young. This game could have been far more enjoyable if the devs had actually programmed the AI to take advantage of the inherent strengths and weaknesses of the opposing sides, but it is still quite enjoyable, dare I say truly hard core.

So between posts, I'm killing Yankees at a rate that would have made old Bobby Lee proud.
