Is there going to be a means to select or deselect races?

I had defined a custom races and as I got near the end I realized that it was in the game. I could delete it, but I may want to test it again some time. Some games you can save races and others you cannot. Options are usually better than not having options.

The TODO list includes an option to select which of the available races appears in your game. For now I don't think there is a way to control whether or not your custom races will appear.

For now, one option is to manually copy the .xml files out of your Races folder to another folder you create. This will remove them from your game and you can then safely deleted them from within the game.

Your custom races are located here: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\LocalLow\Praxis Games\ISG\Races

Thanks, I will just delete them. Not that hard to create them later, if needed.

We had an option at some point that would allow you to NOT play against custom races. We ended up removing that as we plan to allow the player to choose which races should play in a given game.

For now, if you wish to keep your custom races but not play against them, you can copy them out as aReclusiveMind explains above.

NP, I deleted it. I will say the AI handle the race very well. The were way out in front in tech and had a titan. They sent ships to multiple locations simultaneously. It took some time to finally take them down. The Wurtzite cannons were very effective at SAM duty. Two cannons on a battlestar was enough to one shot three stacks of my missile. I should have eliminated them last.

Hi My friend, the race that you mention, it was the AI playing your custom race? It sounds like you had a blast.

Yup, they used it and gave me a reason to be on my toes. Titans are not easy to over come and neither are battle stations.

No they're not. I've faced off against some that inflicted heavy casualties on my forces, It took quite an effort to bring them down. The battle stations tend to launch wave upon wave of fighters and I try to kill them quickly. Sometimes the colony in question will also have some telemetry buildings giving a bonus to the defending force, I can usually win these battles, but I don't walk away unscathed.

Making it hurt more, I notice how the AI always goes for my largest ships first, so my losses hurt that much more, on the other hand, it gives me an opportunity to counter the AI by having multiple smaller escorts firing massive volleys at them. Lol, in one battle, I lost all my heavies but won the battle with my remaining DDs and FFs, talk about a pyrrhic victory.

The first time I saw a titan, I was thinking Moo2. Impossible level and late game, you can take down Doomstars and Titans and massive fleets, with no losses. I was quickly disabused of the notion that I could roll over them. Luckily I brought enough to take the damage and come out on top.

I can only agree with the both of you. The AI definately equips their titans to do a lot of damage! I know some of you have watched my Moltar videos from PA11 and saw first hand how I paid the price when underestimating them.

The one caveat is that they must also upgrade their defenses. In that game, the Draguul (if I recall correctly) had titans, but still had level 1 armor. I was able to tear through them in a single volley before they got to fire.

It would be interesting to know what level of armor they had at the time of design. They should at least have trit, but if they had better, they may not refit. No idea, if they will upgrade a design and if they do, will they retro the ships.

Hmm, good question, I'm not sure. Now that I'm using espionage in my latest game, I can get a better idea what sorts of techs the AI has and is researching.

The AI does update their designs frequently, and they also refit their ships as soon as they have the chance.

I've seen this first hand, those level 2 shields eventually became level IIV in one game, Saw some tough ships, and it made me adjust.

The AI is still really underperforming right now, so it is difficult to tell what they are doing. I am hoping the Draguul still using level 1 basic armor in that PA11 Moltar Let's Play was a bug and not their tech strategy.

In my most recent game, the Sulak Let's Play, the AI has fallen far, far behind me barely 100 turns in. Using espionage I have seen some questionable tech choices, some leaders being neglected, and other misuse of resources. They get many early advantages for free on harder difficulties, but fail to use those to drive their economy or military.

I have yet to lose a game or feel very threatened with a possibility of loss. Yes, I am experienced, but I am also playing on the hardest difficulties.

None of this is a surprise to me, as the AI is not finished yet. We are in Alpha, after all. Ideally though, impossible should given even veterans a real challenge and a < 100% win rate. Probably < 80% for the best of the best players with challenges throughout. Hardcore should be far worse at < 60% win rate average. There are easier difficulties for a reason. I actually like the threat of failure. It makes victory far sweeter when it's achieved and increased replay value dramatically for me.

LoL, I got plenty of failures playing C3C on 250x250 31 civs, always war demi god. Could not lose on same game with emperor. DG best to not meet more than 6 civ, till you get set up. But yes, hardcore should at least be a struggle. In the end in humans figure the holes and punch through.

As we explained in the Development Roadmap, the AI is still at about 66% finished at this time. Expect Impossible and Hardcore difficulties to be at release what "Normal" is at about now at Alpha.

Along the lines of saving custom races, could we have the ability to save leader name, homeworld name, and color? Also it only allows about half as much text as descriptions of the stock races.

You mean, saving the leader name, homeworld name and color for a custom race, correct? Yes, less text is being allowed for the custom race description, we'll look into that.

Yes saving those things for a custom race. Maybe color is a bit tricky, but leader name and homeworld name would be great.
