If you have star names and other things like in the screenshot behind, the transparency is too extreme.
It would look better if the stripe has a darker color or general is better readable.

Hence my preference for changing the starting color to Navy Blue, the contrast is better... plus the color is more militant:)

Now that is unfair. Every color should be treated equal.
Or lets say it different: Every color should make a good look.

And what would be also cool is, that you can change the color later in game :) (When finding out that the cool dark blue would be too hard to read.. and yes, I have those kind of problems!)
Never had a game that could... wait, Sword of the stars?! You could even play a different empire. Never tried though..

Look for instance here... i have blue by the way :)

I guess we can try with a more opaque stripe, at least when it first appears to improve readability.

    That sounds good!
and while reading your post, i remember what also could maybe get a bit of better timing (or maybe even is causing (for me) the problem).
(i felt it was not right, but never thought about mentioning):
The turn popup has a long fade in and out, but the time between the fade is too short, mybe not even existing.
    what i mean is:
1 second fade in, 1 second fade out.

could i tbe possible to change that for instance to:
0,8 seconds fade in, 0,5 seconds visible, 0,8 seconds fade out.

I see what you mean. I'll see what we can do.

\Edit: Ok, now the turn popup is visible for a period of time (1.25s) before starting to fade out, while before the fadeout started immediately. This should help on the readability issue you were having.
