ISG Dev Diary #10: Colony View

Hello everyone, today we will talk about the colony view in ISG, which deserves a dev diary on its own.

Colony View

One of the features we liked in Master of Orion 2, and Imperium Galactica 2 as well, was the possibility to see your colonies in the planet’s actual terrain, with all the buildings there. We think this is an important feature in a 4X game because it helps increase immersion and a sense of attachment with your colonies, while also increasing the feeling that you are actually there, and see your colonies grow.

So, in the last few weeks, one of the things we’ve been working on was the colony view screen, improving graphics and adding buildings. So, in the next release, to be out this fall, you will see your buildings in the colony for the first time...

Ryan McQuinn joins music team !

Last Friday the Orlando Contemporary Chamber Orchestra’s (https://www.occomusic.com/) performed a concert focused in the famous classic RPG game Chrono Trigger. Ryan McQuinn was invited to compose a 10 minute suite and since he will make some music for ISG he choose our game as inspiration for the event! This is only preliminary work, so some parts may be heard in the final ISG OST, while others will not. We thank Ryan for choosing us as an inspiration to produce the musical piece.

Check the recorded stream here (https://tinyurl.com/y7tc5az2). ISG section between minute 32′ until 42′. The stream has bad quality but there is great audio being produced soon.

Ryan McQuinn joins Grant Kirkhope for the creation of the ISG music. Grant is already working with us, Ryan will start soon!
