ISG Dev Diary 27: News on Expansion III (ETA: 2026)

Hello everyone,

As we pass the midpoint of the year, I wanted to share an update on the progress of Expansion III and its expected release window.

Expansion III slated to release later in 2026

Following several months of development since our last dev diary, we are currently on track for a 2026 release, likely toward the end of the year.

While the majority of the work is complete, we are now in the final stretch of integrating, refining, and testing the new content to ensure a smooth launch. Our formal marketing campaign and major reveals will begin as we get closer to the release date.

After many months of dedicated work developing and refining this massive new chapter of ISG, we’re excited to announce that Expansion III is planned for release in 2026.

Development is progressing steadily, and this expansion is shaping up to be exactly what we envisioned it to be. We’re also building upon everything we’ve learned from both your feedback and our own evolving design goals.

While we’re not ready to announce a specific release date yet, we can say with confidence that the expansion will be out in 2026, unless something very unexpected prevents it...

Update 1.6.4 Released

Hello everyone!

It’s been a few months since we released the free 1.6.3 update. We hope you are enjoying that update with its new features and improvements.

In the meantime, we’ve been listening to your feedback, so here’s a smaller patch that adds some improvements and a few bug fixes.

This update is available in all stores. On Steam it will auto-update. On GOG it will also auto-update on GOG Galaxy. If you don’t use GOG Galaxy, you’ll need to download the offline installers for the new version in your GOG account. The new DRM-free version is also available on Humble Bundle (*) and Itchi.io (check for the latest version 1.6.4 on those stores).

Note (*): It may take a day or two to be available on Humble Bundle.

Interstellar Space: Genesis – Free 1.6.3 Update Released!

Hello everyone!

I’m thrilled to announce that the new and free 1.6.3 update for Interstellar Space: Genesis is now officially available to all players!

This update has been on the unstable branch for beta testing to make sure there were no major issues, for the smoothest official release possible. I’m happy to report that testing went very well, so we should be in very good shape. Thanks to everyone who played the unstable build and provided feedback!

Update 1.6.3 Beta on unstable Steam branch

I’m happy to announce that the new and free 1.6.3 Beta update is now available and ready for public testing on Steam’s unstable Beta branch!

As of posting of this dev diary, the 1.6.3 Beta update will be live on Steam.

Please note that the 1.6.3 Beta is an optional beta update. You have to manually opt in to access it.

In your Steam library, right click on Interstellar Space: Genesis -> Properties -> Betas tab -> select the “unstable – Unstable Beta Branch for Testing” branch. The game will update and you’ll be able to start playing with the new additions and improvements.

ISG Dev Diary #24: Game status – Next free update and Expansion 3

Hello everyone.

It’s been a while since we last reached out and I thought this would be a good time to provide an update on the ongoing activities and on what you can expect for Interstellar Space: Genesis going forward.

First, I’d like to thank everyone who has bought the game, and the expansions, so far. That is key so that we can continue providing support and producing new content for ISG.

Secondly, I’d like to share that development activities were delayed this past year due to family business issues that needed my utmost attention. Progress was made on new art procurement for expansion 3, but the new features’ development (coding) stalled to a halt for a few months and was reduced for the rest of the year.

Interstellar Space: Genesis – Terrains Pack is available now!

Hello everyone!

We’re thrilled to present to you today a new piece of content called Interstellar Space: Genesis – Terrains Pack!

One thing we’ve been hearing in player feedback for a while now is that the game could have more terrains, so colonies would look different when you build a few in the same biome. The Terrains Pack adds more variety in colony backgrounds with a selection of new 3D terrains, for a more immersive and complete experience!

The Terrains Pack includes 2 new hand-crafted terrains for each of the 7 different biomes (Terran, Desert, Lava, Acid, Ice, Swamp, and Barren), for a total of 14 completely new and unique 3D terrains!

ISG Dev Diary #23: Update 1.6.2 and Terrains Pack

Hello everyone!

Hope you’re enjoying your time playing ISG with the latest version (1.6, now 1.6.1) released this past November. In the meantime, we’ve been working on the next update, the third expansion pack, and a new piece of content that was still unannounced, called Terrains Pack, to be released later today.

Update 1.6.1 Released

Hello everyone!

It’s been about a week since we released the free 1.6 update. We hope you are enjoying this major new update with all its new features and improvements!

In the meantime, we’ve been listening to your feedback, so here’s a patch that fixes some issues. This new update is now available in all stores.

Saves from version 1.6 are 100% compatible with this new version. So, you can proceed with your games normally. If you’re playing a game started with an older version (1.5.3), those saves should be compatible as well, but it’s advisable to start new games. If you wish, you can revert to the 1.5.3 version to finish your ongoing game with that version. See here how (look for the “Compatibility and finishing an ongoing game” section).
